  • Sydney Smith (1771-1845) - An English-born preacher and author who became known for his wit and humor. He lived in Sydney from 1803 to 1807 and played a significant role in establishing the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia's oldest continuously published newspaper.
  • Thomas Sutcliffe Mort (1816-1878) - An English-born entrepreneur who migrated to Sydney in 1838. He became a prominent figure in the Australian business world, particularly in the development of the wool, wheat, and meat industries. Mort is also known for his contributions to the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
  • Elizabeth Macarthur (1766-1850) - Born in England, she was the wife of John Macarthur, a prominent colonial administrator, pioneer, and wool pioneer. After arriving in Sydney in 1790, she played a crucial role in expanding the wool industry in Australia and was one of the first women to own vast land holdings in the region.
  • Edmund Barton (1849-1920) - A politician and judge, Barton was born in Glebe, Sydney. He became Australia's first Prime Minister after the country federated in 1901. Barton played a key role in drafting Australia's Constitution and is often referred to as the "Father of Federation."

  • Ken Rosewall (born 1934) - A former professional tennis player, Rosewall is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. Born in Hurstville, Sydney, he won numerous Grand Slam titles throughout his career and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1980.
  • Cathy Freeman (born 1973) - An Australian former sprinter, Freeman was born in Slade Point, near Mackay, Queensland, and grew up in Sydney. She is best remembered for winning the gold medal in the 400 meters event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, becoming the first Aboriginal Australian to win an individual Olympic gold medal.
  • Nick Cave (born 1957) - A singer-songwriter, author, and actor, Cave was born in Warracknabeal, Victoria, and moved to Brighton-Le-Sands, Sydney, at the age of four. He is the frontman of the alternative rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and has achieved critical acclaim for his distinctive musical style and poetic lyrics.
  • Del Kathryn Barton (born 1972) - An Australian artist known for her vibrant and intricate paintings. Barton was born in Sydney and has won the Archibald Prize, Australia's most prestigious portrait painting award, on two occasions (2008 and 2013).
